Blastrounaut: Behind The Scenes

Blastronaut, released on Lost Space Records, is an aggressive space bass song written in the key of F minor with a focus on laser sounds and a psychedelic overtone. I used brass, strings, and woodwinds to contribute to an epic and big feel. The genre subcategories it falls under is dubstep and space bass. The fast oscillation of the lasers in some sections provides an intensity and power. I used lyrics that portray an ambitious astronaut that's fighting to rise to the top.

I made this song in FL Studio. I used Spitfire Audio for organic instrument samples like the strings. For the synthesized sounds, I used the Serum plugin. To make it feel more like space, I used lots of different lasers and effects. The double time section after the first drop is a fresh changeup to the halftime beat of the rest of the song. A phase bass provides depth and pairs well with the rapid lasers. Inspirations for this song include Ray Volpe, Subtronics, and Eliminate.

This song is the seventh in the overarching story that is Artificial Reality. I will make an animated music video for it in Blender just like the others. In order to remain consistent with quality, I will use EEVEE again at 24 fps for the renders. When the video is available, I will link it here and add it to Bandcamp. It will also be uploaded to YouTube.

In the music video, Psidemica has returned from the soulscape with drastically increased power. He must now return to his ship so he can leave this planet. He uses his newly awakened psionic powers to conquer foe after foe by means of energy blasts, magic circles, and mind magic. Leaving the large shrine behind, he makes his way to the ship only to see a large group of opponents surrounding it. These individuals sought the power that he has attained and want to take it from him. Psidemica shows them he will not be defeated so easily, and gains access to his ship after eliminating them.
